It’s hard to deny how mesmerizing the view of the River Valley looks from any angle, or the city skyline from the distance of either north or south side. Despite what pessimistic locals may say about our prairie-confined town, Edmonton actually has some beautiful views and landscapes throughout the city—you just have to look close enough and hard enough to find it. Let us here at MINI Edmonton give you a quick look at some of our favourite views and roads to take your MINI Cooper out for a spin!
Victoria Park Road
Not only do you get to see the Edmonton skyline as you drive towards it, you can also look back at the beautiful landscapes of the Victoria Golf Course Clubhouse on your way up. Bask in the beautiful trees and shrubbery that clouds the ground. If you’re keen on walking instead of driving, one of the best ways to see the sights is by hanging around Grant Notley park, grabbing a bench and just sitting there to take it all in. While the gazebo across from you looks nice, you just can’t get the same view as sitting on one of these benches and looking at the expansive field up close.
River Valley Road
If you thought running along the River Valley is fun, wait till you get to drive through it without doing any physical activity whatsoever. Drive your MINI Cooper through the extensive River Valley road, where you can see both the Dudley B. Menzies and High-Level Bridges above you and the stream of the North Saskatchewan River following your drive. All this, while you watch the joggers and bikers bending over and heaving their lungs. No matter your method of transportation, the views from this road will leave everyone breathless.
Speaking of the High Level, while this landmark Edmontonian bridge doesn’t get to show you too much of the city views, it still manages to leave drivers in awe. It’s even more beautiful at night when the bridge’s lights are on, adding a whole new perspective and mood for your visual pleasure—both on and off the bridge!
One of the connecting tissues of road between the north-west and south-west side of the city, Groat Road lets you take advantage of your MINI Cooper’s incredible handling on the curvy roads (especially during construction season). While the speed limits only limit you to only 50–60 km/h on the road, you’ll get a taste of how well your MINI handles sharp turns and tight road spaces. You also get a beautiful drive through the different parks and golf courses on your way, which is also a bonus!
This was only just a small taste of where you can take your MINI in the city we call home. Take yours out for a spin and discover the many hidden treasures Edmonton has in store for you to find. To test drive your next MINI Cooper today, visit us here at your local MINI Edmonton dealer!
