The John Cooper Works tuning kit transforms a regular MINI Cooper into a racing beast. From us at MINI Edmonton read on about how the John Cooper Works models came to be and what it can do for you!
History Of John Cooper Works
The genesis of the idea for the John Cooper Works stylized Mini began with his love for racing cars as a young man. In 1946 John Cooper and his father, Charles Cooper, started the Cooper Car Company. Their garage specialized in maintaining single-seat racing rally cars called “specials.”
In 1961 John Cooper put into action the potential he saw from the advent of the Mini Classic which was introduced just two years before. Cooper added a racing-tuned engine to the car and installed a more rigid chassis that could withstand more repeated abuse. The Mini Cooper was born! It didn’t take long for the newly minted Mini Cooper to make its mark on the world. The Mini Cooper and the Cooper S won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967.
After decades of success, the Mini was rebranded in North America as MINI in 2001. Following the death of John Cooper the year before, these new cars maintained the tenants of Cooper’s design and performance innovations inside and out. In 2003, the John Cooper Works racing tuning kits were introduced, keeping alive the heritage of the John Cooper style of MINI in a top-of-the-line racing model.
Just by stepping down on the pedal you’ll feel the rumble of the high-performance engine out of its aggressive rear spoiler. Sure, the rear spoiler reduces drag and maximizes downforce, but it’s hard not to fall in love with just how it sounds alone. The engine itself boasts 228 horsepower and a maximum speed of 246 km/h. It’s not just all power with your John Cooper Works MINI as it balances all of that supreme engine strength with excellent control and handling. The sport suspension allows you to maneuver safely around tight corners while the 4-piston brakes will keep you in control at every stop. These performance advantages along with its low center of gravity and small, compact frame will put you ahead of the pack on the racetrack.
The design of John Cooper Works MINIs combine both sport and elegance. A stand-out exclusive Rebel Green colour is available, harkening back to its old British racing roots. The sporty seats are sunk down in a low profile style that will make sure you’re secure and in control when maneuvering around sharp turns. Signature detailing gives the car a distinct look wherever your eyes land. Leather stitching around the steering wheel and official emblems on the door sills let you know that not a single inch on this car has been forgotten.
Whether you’re a racer yourself or just want a sleek-looking sports car, John Cooper Works kits are the perfect premium option. At MINI Edmonton we’d be happy to help if you have any more questions!
